The Benjamin Wright Award is given annually by the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers Section to a Connecticut Civil Engineer who has demonstrated outstanding practice throughout his or her career, and made significant contributions to Civil Engineering. On Tuesday, May 10, 2011 CSCE presented the 2011 Benjamin Wright Award to George Torello, Jr., P.E.

The entire staff of Torello Engineers attended the anual awards dinner. Highlights of the evening included a speech and slide presentation by Howard Epstein, P.E. which outlined the career and accomplishments of Mr. Torello.

Mr. Torello has over 40 years of experience in the design, review, and inspection of buildings. A recognized leader and educator, George has been involved in the investigation of some of the largest building failures in this country. His extensive background in the analysis of why buildings have failed is of critical importance in the design of new structures and the evaluation and restoration of existing facilities. George's firm and George personally has been involved with educational seminars for nearly thirty years now and has been a tremendous resource for the engineering community including engineers, building officials, architects, home inspectors, fire marshals and contractors.
